L’Esprit Panama Rum, produced at Don José distillery, is a 13-year-aged cask strength offering, bottled by Whisky & Rhum. Distilled from molasses with a column still, it features a robust 61.4% ABV. Limited to 254 bottles, this rum impresses with its complex nose of vanilla, orange, caramel, tobacco, and woody undertones. The flavor is a harmonious blend of vanilla, caramel, oily textures, barrel nuances, and a smoky finish, characterized by a balance of sweetness and intensity. It has been noted for its surprising complexity and the unique interplay of smoky and sweet woodsy flavors. The alcohol presence is bold, yet after aeration, the rum delivers a rich, flavorful experience.

Überraschend komplex - kein Aromenmonster, aber mit einer toll eingebundenen Rauchnote als Counterpart zu den süssen Würz- und Holznoten. Sehr gelungener Vertreter der Panama-Rums.
Ziemlich kräftig in der Nase, braucht definitiv erstmal Freiraum zum Atmen. Die rauchige Whisky Note hier ist sehr ungewohnt aber passt ganz gut zum dunklen, röstlastigen Rest. Nach 10 Minuten hat sich dann auch der Alkohol beruhigt. Am Gaumen dann deutlich süßer als erwartet, aber natürlich mit ordentlich Power im Alkohol. Kakao, Vanille, viel Holz und vor allem kräftiger Alkohol - der könnte dezenter bzw. besser eingebunden sein. Trotzdem spannend und vor allem nach etwas Luft sehr lecker.
