This rum from the Esperance distillery, which also produces the Karukera brand, is produced from the blue and red canes of the estate. Fermented in a natural way, without any additives and then distilled on a traditional Savalle column whereafter it’s just slightly watered down with the offspring water from the Soufrière volcano before bottled at the estate. Overall an powerful Agricole that despite the high ABV is very smooth and quite mild. I’ve also tested it in a Ti Punch, and it was great. So I understand that it’s very popular locally in Guadeloupe.
Alkohol gut eingebunden.
#5169 26.03.2025 Running some samples at home. Nose Fresh, citrus, light olive, light floral, light grass, light herbs, sugarcane, light earthy. Palate Oily, fresh, citrus, sugarcane, spice, light olive, light salt, light berries, floral. Finish Long, oily, fresh, sugarcane, faint caramel, light mineral, olives, light salty, light vegetal. Empty glass Herbs, citrus, light caramel, olive, light honey.
An elegant, well-balanced Longueteau, with a lovely attack on the nose of sugarcane, vegetal, earthy and floral aromas. Tropical fruit and citrus are not far behind in this dry but fairly rounded profile. The attack on the palate is warmer and spicier. Ginger sharpens the profile, while nature (floral and vegetal notes) tries to reclaim its rights, before letting citrus take the lead. The profile isn't particularly spectacular, but it remains well constructed. The alcohol, on the other hand, is very well integrated. The finish is long, bordered by sugarcane and vegetal notes, citrus (cltron zest) and spices (ginger). The latter accentuate the dryness of the finish. A rather well-made, powerful and aromatic Longueteau.
