With a medium long finish you get a pretty good rum considering the price tag. The Agricole notes are there as well as light fruit and spices. I rally like the dry oily feel on the palate.

Mais quelle jolie surprise !!! Un rhum qui ne paye pas de mine et m'a étonné par tous ses aspects. Du nez : puissant, boisé avec un peu de fruit - Au palais : complexe, chaud et poivré, presque piquant. Il m'oblige à y retourner plusieurs fois pour en apprécier les nuances, découvrant des touches de réglisse et de gingembre. Une dégustation inattendue qui oblige à davantage d'attention que la moyenne... bref, j'aime !

Un nez alcoolique, une bouche tourbé avec des notes graves et complexes, un soupçon de réglisse sur une finale longue. Du bon, sans aucun doute.

Ce Montebello 8 ans présente une robe plutôt clair, c’est étonnant compte tenu des années passées en fût, on dirait presque un ESB. Le premier nez est très atypique pour un agricole, on dirait un rhum de mélasse qui a subit une longue fermentation. Le premier nez porte clairement sur le fruit jaune, le coing, la mirabelle. Le second nez est très délicat, on a du bois fin, léger, de la dentelle avec un peu d’épice : c’est divin ! Je pourrai passer ma soirée à sentir ce nectar ! En bouche l’attaque est douce, c´est rond mais le jus manque de structure, de boisé peu-être … Il est assez déconcertant, on dirait un rhum jeune qui a perdu sa canne fraîche. Les épices sont dominantes avec l’alcool, sans être dans l’excès. Je m’attendais à beaucoup plus de complexité. La finale est moyenne

Bis auf ein paar Samles erst mein zweiter Agricole und nach dem ersten Reinfall eine nette Überraschung. Eine gute Balance zwischen Holz und Frucht, diese begleitet Dich von Anfang bis Ende. Für seine 42% hat er ordentlich Bumms und fühlt sich weniger verwässert an als andere Kandidaten.
