How does this rum taste?
- hoher Qualität was so nicht zu erwarten war
- viel Litchi, Pfirsich, Kumquat
- Schnäppchen mit hoher Qualität
This limited Fernandes TDL 1999 from That Boutique-Y Rum Co. stands out with its mix of woody, herbal, and especially minty character—"Minze/Menthol/Eukalyptos" (Bavarian Rum Lover)—giving it a vibrant and slightly wild profile. Notes of dry wood, a pronounced menthol freshness, hints of caramel, and restrained spice are consistent through most tastings. Several mention the creamy, almost dessert-like quality (“eine schöne crème brûlée” – Jonathan Massard), but the alcohol integration divides opinion. Some find it “exceptionally smooth” (DomM), while others notice a "little bit harsh alcoholic." Expect subtle fruit—“viel Litchi, Pfirsich, Kumquat” (Jonathan Massard)—and earthy, leathery notes for depth.

"Found one last sample remainder. In conclusion, a really good bargain for the price at the time with high quality, which was not to be expected. Edit: I still like it and it has a very good PLV. Very pleasing rum at a real bargain."
"Exceptionally smooth yet tastey TDL. Very nice."
"Interesting, slightly minty, leather and wood. I am thrilled ☺️"
"This TDL is not one of the sweet, caramel ones like the ORS 2003, but neither is it a purebred dirty TDL of the 2001-2003 vintages. The nose is yellow-fruited with smoky herbal notes. Not so dissimilar to some of the 2003s, but less mint and less depth. The alcohol sits a bit uncomfortably on top of the flavors. In the mouth it is more intense than on the nose with similar flavors, the smokiness comes through even more clearly and brings almost something like a grain whiskey note. Although the rum is certainly more complex than the sweet, dark Trinidads, I don't really like it any better. It's already the exciting, dirty TDL profile, but I don't enjoy the barrel."
