How does this rum taste?
Fans of the Depaz Hors d’Âge Port Cask Finish love its generous dried fruit and port notes layered with vanilla and sugarcane, making each sip an accessible introduction to agricole rums. The port cask influence is clear but not overwhelming, and many find it pairs well with dessert or after a meal. It's a frequently recommended choice for both newcomers and experienced sippers looking for something fruity yet classic in profile.

Overall a very good Port Cask Finished Agricole that I tasted at the Sweden (Stockholm) Rumfest 2024. It has first been aged for at least 8 years whereafter it’s finished during 11 months in former Port Casks. At nose is oak, vanilla, chocolate and ripe fruits recognizable. In mouth and at the palate is flavors of oak, vanilla and chocolate detectable together with notes of port, hazelnut, dried fruits and cocoa. During the rather long finish is beside the above, notes of jasmine, coffee and plum found.
Very successful "experiment". The ideal Agricole for molasses fans.
Sweet rhum, but even if the rhum from HSE with Port Cask Finish (RX7545) is much younger and cheaper, I like it a little better than this Depaz, because the HSE very appropriate port note is more dominant. Nevertheless, I can also recommend the Depaz just Agricole beginners with a clear conscience, he makes the entry gently.
