Bottled in 2015 gives 30yo, Wow. The sweetness is lower than expected, which is good cause the ABV isn’t high enough to handle more sweetness. The medium long finish goes the same way as the palate.
Compared to the 1979, this one is slightly better. A piece of chocolate brings this one home. The vanilla is strong on this one and that in a good way. A very good rum and a big surprise.
8,9:On the nose, this is a sweet rum, very impressive with fruity notes, vanilla and caramelized delicacy. Roasting notes spices things up a bit, woodiness brings us back to delicious mellowness. Aeration brings out roasted nuts and very appetizing nougat.Walnuts and hazelnuts are like nuggets from the oak barrel, lightly coated with red fruit. 9:On the palate is as sweet as the nose, attack our tasting buds with juicy, woody caramel. American oak is the master on board. It relentlessly unfurls its delicacy of soft wood, chocolate, yellow fruits, tobacco and vanilla. The more roasted notes remain more in the background. The rum is very round and balanced, really delicious. 8,5:The finish is dark and toasty, with a few spices, lingering with notes from the palate. Man could hardly find so smooth rum!..
Although you won't find anything exceptional in the fragrance, there is relatively a lot of it. The taste follows the smell. Mostly dried fruit, vanilla, caramel and a little nuts. It's simply an affordable vintage for sipping with a visit 😉.
