Not as heavy as the 1970's one. But I like this a little bit more. Like an old coal fire and fruit tea. This is really complex in this specific flavours. This really shows how lovely these french west indies standards were.
1L bottle from the 1970's.The bottle seems to have been kept lying down since there is a strange deposit on one side of the bottle, a bit like a wine bottle. The rum is a dark brown, brown. When I opened the bottle, I said to myself "yuck, it looks like wine that has turned...". And to the mouth too... A few days later, I tried it again: "am I becoming an alcoholic or is it really better?" On my 5th try, I can say that it is really good! We still find this very port / Madeira side on a background of sugar cane and even with a certain freshness! On the finish, there are also some tannins.this disappeared bottler was based in Bordeaux. It seems that it was aged in a Bordeaux red wine barrel...
