To Brugal
"8:On the nose, the first impression we get is a mix of dried fruits like apricots, raisins, and honeyed banana, followed by gourmet caramel, toasted walnuts and just a hint of smoke before the sherry notes take over and dominate the profile, that is thick and sweet. When aired a bit, there is more wood, coffee comes out, the chocolate is milky. The sherry notes nicely round up our experience on the nose. 7,9:On the palate, the attack is sweet and fruity, as the dried fruits and caramel dominate, while a honey sweetness dominates the mid-palate. Sherry and a bit smoky, that is our second attack on the tasting buds, as the chocolate is creamy, prunes and other fruits delicious, but sweet, as the sherry is added extra to this ron, the wood charred, dry, a bit spicy... We could notice some menthol note inbetween... 7,5:The finish is medium, dry and woody, as the palate notes linger. A bit alcoholic in the end...."
"I think this rum would be a success for beginners. as it is both light and sweet. Fruity with caramel and chocolate/cocoa notes. Light roasted wood notes on the palate. Price to quality is very good."
"Gifted from a relative that traveled to the Dominican Republic, I believe this rum is only available locally (not exported). Fairly dark mahogany colour, this one is very low alcohol, bottled at 38%. On the nose and on the palate this one is very similar - raisins, dates, a little bit of mild woodiness (aged in sherry casks) and lots of sugar. Don’t want to guess how much the dosage here is but this is very sweet, almost akin to a dessert wine and equally easy to drink if you can get past the sweetness. Good rum for beginners and fans of sweet, smooth easy drinking doses rums. A much younger me would have liked this quite a bit, but today there is very little appeal."
"This rum starts with a maple syrup/caramel nose with some vanilla added in. The taste is on the very sweet side, most likely due to the low ABV at 38%. It has notes of brown sugar and dried fruits that carry through into a medium finish with some spice and vanilla from the barrel impact."
