Kirk and Sweeney 23 Years

I like it much better than its 12- and 18-year-old siblings, despite its pre-mature sweetness. The longer maturation time brings more softness and at the same time more depth. As the 23-year-old has been discontinued in favor of the Gran Reyerva Superior, I will keep a full bottle in my collection. I like it very much.

Herrliche harmonische Ausprägungen von Karamell, Vanille und gerösteten Nüssen sowie Schokolade. Warmer Auftakt setzt die Aromen der Nase fort. Auch hier Vanille, Karamell zusätzlich auch Zimt. Abgang: kurz und unauffällig. Würziger und milder Rum, dem man sein Alter an der Harmonie und guten Abstimmung anmerkt.

Holzig, würzig, wenig komplex, rund, wenig aussagekräftig

On The Rocks: On the nose moderate oak with brown sugar and mild alcohol and spices. Taste is smooth and sweet with a delayed strong spice and mild alcohol evolving into a moderate bitterness. The finish is long as it evolves again from a bitterness into a delayed marshmellow sweetness deep into the finish. This is demonstrating very complex and distinct flavour stages and is very enjoyable. This is a fanatic sipper on the rocks. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose smells like Pepsi Zero. Taste is sweet but very shallow flavour profile with almost no finish. There is no point drinking this mixed.

I'm not really a fan of rons because I find them too sweet. This one has a nice toffee smell and taste though and finishes on an almost sour (and oaky) note. I might get a bottle for sipping because of that.

The taste is pleasant and complex with notes of dried fruit, toast, toffee, almonds and vanilla.

A very sweet rum with fruits and some caramel /toffee notes. My wife uses it in her pineapple cake.

Today times exactly the other way around than a few weeks ago in the hotel, when I had a very good rum in an inappropriate glass 😉. Nah, this rum is so not mine. It seems biting and bitter to me. But is also too thin for me at the same time. At least it doesn't seem to have a single gram of sugar. But yes, I also taste something spicy and woody. Could I imagine well with a cigar. Thus determined relatively far ahead for a relaxed evening with friends to whom you want to bring honest rum closer.
