Had a very nice Dictador tasting this Sunday and this is the fourth one of the six. Another great surprise beating the Perpetual by one point. This rum is almost perfectly balanced in the spice and sweetness and a pretty complex one as well. Like pure silk when it passes down your throat. Price to quality is very good on this one as well.
Relatively flat but quite okay in taste
Once again stopped by my favorite rum from the early days. I still like it very much, it is a round combination of roasty and sweet flavors that are very intense. Coffee, cream, caramel, chocolate, spices. I like it very much, since today I also know that this rum is a blend of burned out Jerez and Port barrels. Fruits you look in vain, unfortunately.
It’s an unusual rum. The nose is all creamy toffee and hints at sweetness, with an element of raw spirit at the edge like Sake. The mouth is lightly spiced, more butterscotch and caramel but somehow under weight. It is dosed but that I was expecting, where it lacks is the thinness of the mouth and finish, it fades away moderately quickly but has no presence on the tongue which really lets it down. The finish it lightly peppery and spiced. For the price it is lacking but something a bit more unusual in the sweetened Spanish style
