Foursquare Doorly‘s 14 Years

9:The nose is soft and velvety. As in a milk chocolate, one guesses a heavy and deep texture, a velvet with comfortable folds. The fruits take the lead, with orange peel in the lead, with exotic fruits in syrup caught in its patina. With aeration, the soft, full wood offers us notes of tobacco, mellow and toasted coconut. Its white fibre is a fleshy, caramelised juice. The toasted oak brings a little frame and character with time, this is a complete rum that will be hard to resist.Some glue on the nose😉. 9:On the palate, the rum is balanced and flavoursome. The woody concentration abounds with aromas of cocoa, toasted coconut, dark vanilla and sweet oak. The spices are taut, flavourful, like a variety of rich, exotic peppers. 9:The finish gives way to velvety fruit, candied orange peel and dark chocolate. Sipping it, brightens the day and night wide.Great price/performance.

Overall a really great, complex and well balanced rum. The brand Doorly’s was founded in 1908 by Martin Doorly & Company, but is since 1992 owned and some years later produced by Foursquare and Mr. Richard Seale. This 14yo Doorly’s is a blend of Pot and Column distilled rum. The rum has been aged in ex-bourbon casks plus that a small part of the blend was aged in ex-Madeira casks.

Not the most complex Foursquare, but better than some ECS bottlings. For me it remains the best Foursquare easy sipper with very good PLV. Can also impress in cocktails. Remains a permanent fixture in my bar. For the asking price of around 70€, this is an outrageously good and drinkable Foursquare!

A very good rum, an underestimated one due to the fact that is a standard edition, being as good as many ECS. A .2 added due to exceptional q/p and availability. Edit 12.05.24 The recent rise of the price makes this one as expensive as ECS low abv releases, still quality is great

I know a lot of eyes will roll at seeing such a high rating for such an affordable, easy drinking rum but I stand by this. This rum is so drinkable, so enjoyable and yet still offers an elevated experience. This is the ultimate barometer and bridge rum. On the nose and palate this one is sweet, pleasant, oaky, fruity and tropical. Can you find ‘better’ - surely. Can you find better value - doubtful.

This rum is a real pastry. Very round profile on both nose and palate with loads of coconut, vanilla and caramel. Dilution is very well executed with no watery feeling on the palate. This rum is not very complex but these round profiles always get me 😋

Through the 48% and the longer storage, this rum gets that certain something that his younger brothers still lack. Extremely round nose with the typical FS notes, the milk chocolate with lots of fruit must be highlighted as particularly noteworthy. Definitely the best representative from the Doorly range for a still good price. One can even say that this comes close to the ECS level.

Après avoir découvert le 12 ans en sample, j ai décidé d acheter le 14 ans. J ai bien fait, car les 2 années supplémentaire lui donnent beaucoup plus de profondeur. Au nez comme en bouche on a un certain paradoxe : une première approche assez acre(tanin piment) qui s efface rapidement pour évoluer vers d agréables parfums de coco caramel. La finale moyenne confirme le côté boisé-chocolaté. Un très bon rapport qualité/prix. J apprécie beaucoup le packaging aussi

Along with Doorly's 12 year old, my introduction to Barbados or the Foursquare world. Find the 14-year-old a bit more complex than his two years younger brother. Also like to drink it in between times. Find but for what he has to offer a tad too expensive. Edit: not too expensive meanwhile and as CubaLibre simply ingenious

Rum di grande qualità. Facilmente reperibile e con un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Per me è a livello degli imbottigliamenti ECS di Foursquare, infatti lo considero un ECS. Un ottimo compagno per le mie bevute serali!

Next sample from Tim. Really good, thanks for that. Nice notes of vanilla, caramel and wood on the nose. Continues on the palate, where the oak comes to the fore. A really recommendable rum, even for beginners.

This is a lovely foursquare, one of the better rums for the Doorlys range they say. It's the perfect everyday sipper for me at the perfect strength. Lovely nose. On the palate it's typical foursquare, vanilla, caramel, tropical fruits like banana and caramel. True 14 years of tropical ageing. It is satisfyingly integrated and has a lovely complexity. Give it a try I reckon, it's worth having a bottle in the home bar.

The Foursquare Doorly's 14 really offers a lot for the price. Beautiful chocolate notes, vanilla, caramel, pastry. On the palate also discreet red fruits. Pleasantly mild finish. Only some complexity is missing.
