“The nose on this rum is really nice and it may remind you of some of the Last Ward rums, not as complex but very well balanced. The palate has been perfectly rounded with the perfect proof. So no alcohol dominance but a perfect balance. The orange really shines through and the price to quality is very good.”

“Overall a really great, complex and well balanced rum. The brand Doorly’s was founded in 1908 by Martin Doorly & Company, but is since 1992 owned and some years later produced by Foursquare and Mr. Richard Seale. This 14yo Doorly’s is a blend of Pot and Column distilled rum. The rum has been aged in ex-bourbon casks plus that a small part of the blend was aged in ex-Madeira casks.”

“Through the 48% and the longer storage, this rum gets that certain something that his younger brothers still lack. Extremely round nose with the typical FS notes, the milk chocolate with lots of fruit must be highlighted as particularly noteworthy. Definitely the best representative from the Doorly range for a still good price. One can even say that this comes close to the ECS level.”

“The most elaborate Doorly's of the classic range. If the nose remains on typical notes of cocoa, caramel, wood and tropical fruits, it remains more subtle and complex than its predecessors. The same flavors are clearly visible in the mouth and remain quite pleasant. The finish adds a subtle tobacco note. A good reference to introduce to Barbados.”

“I was very pleasantly surprised by this Doorly's 14 yo. I found a real complexity and interest in it that the XO and 12 yo bottles don't have (although I liked them too). To be re-tested under better conditions, but I enjoyed finding the usual FS notes on an easy-drinking profile.”

“Pleasant to drink. Some really nice notes of vanilla, caramel, coconut, orange peal in the nose. With a sweet start, it’s dry, balanced with some Vanilla, Cocoa, Oak, some fruits in the mouth. Chocolate, vanilla, oak, tobacco and dried fruits for the finish. Btw. it haven‘t the dominant wood smell/taste like a classy foursquare. Value for the money = Very very good”
