How does this rum taste?
The Don Papa Rum Sevillana Cask Finish is a 3-year-old limited release created by the Bleeding Heart Rum Company in the Philippines. Distilled from molasses using a column still, this rum is available in just 9,000 bottles and has a 40% ABV. Users note a dominant orange aroma with hints of dried fruits and wood. The taste features pronounced vanilla and orange peel notes, though responses vary widely, with some highlighting it as an excellent mixer while others find it lacking. The finish of sherry and orange wine gives it a fruity edge, albeit sometimes sharp with a slightly bitter aftertaste. The rum's limited availability might appeal to collectors.

Tasting of the first or original bottling of the D.P. Sevillana cask (1st batch). Wonderfully fruity nose with beautiful orange notes, dried fruit and a good influence from the wine cask. The palate delivers what the nose promises. The Spanish Seville is well pronounced and starts with a slightly dry woodiness, which then leads into great wine notes. Almost simultaneously, an ingenious, honey-like sweetness resonates and merges into wine and orange peel. Then, towards the end, spicy, woody tones and some tobacco and leather, which is due to the influence of the cask. The medium-long finish is again characterized by dried fruit, wood, tobacco and wine, closely followed by spicy barrel notes. It's a real shame that this bottle (sealed) has become so expensive. In addition, the second bottling cannot even begin to keep up with the old bottling.
