How does this rum taste?
The '7 anos' rum from Arehucas, crafted in the Canary Islands, offers a sensory journey with aromas of banana, hazelnut, dark chocolate, coffee, and oak. Aged for 7 years and distilled from molasses, it presents a balanced interplay of woody, cocoa, and vanilla flavors with a noticeable alcoholic kick. Our RumX community enjoys its approachable character, describing it as delightful for relaxed afternoons with friends, albeit occasionally finding it a bit mild. This authenticity in flavor makes it a versatile choice for both casual sippers and dedicated rum enthusiasts looking to explore its unique note profile.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Sweet and alcoholic, with an edge of sweet and honeyed aroma
Scent: Banana, salted caramel, nuts, hint of herbalism, chocolate, coffee, wood, minerality, Taste: Sweet, hazelnuts, lots of toffee, caramel, banking spices, bananas, banana bread, saltiness, dark bread crust, popcorn, oiliness, black pepper. Finish: Bananas, sweet bread, nuts, sweetness.
Quite impressed with this one for what it is This bottle cost me €16 (which translates to prices never seen in the UK since the 80’s) and honestly? It’s basic and enjoyable actually - quite caramel-y and some roasted coffee qualities…. Almost Cuban like minus the tobacco notes - Cuban Junior if you like! The finish practically vanishes within seconds of swallowing but nothing offensive nor aggravating with this one - in other words, smooooooth! Probably makes a banging rum ‘n’ coke to be fair but as a sipper? Straight forward, sweet and enjoyable…. A movie rum if I’ve ever tasted one
An Arehucas is always a success. Pleasant in the mouth, a pleasure for an autumn afternoon with friends.
