How does this rum taste?
Flor de Caña 4 Años Extra Seco is a Nicaraguan rum distilled at Compania Licorera. With a 40% ABV, it is made from molasses using a column still and aged for four years. The aroma is dominated by sugarcane notes, followed by floral, vanilla, and fruity elements with slight solvent hints. On the palate, users note a balance of alcohol, tropical fruits, floral hints, and sugar. While well-received in cocktails for its smoothness and subtlety, its neat profile reveals powerful alcohol and spice notes. Ideal as a cocktail base, it may divide opinions as a standalone drink.

#5663 13.09.2025 Getting ready for the tasting in Copenhagen tonight. Nose Fresh, fruity, faint smoke, light chocolate, vanilla, light floral, citrus. Palate Fresh, round, dry, light oily, light chocolate, light nutts, light vegegal, light mango, spice. Finish Medium long, dry, light bitter, fruits, citrus, spice. Empty glass Light floral, spice, lilght mango, light chocolate, faint varnish. My friend told me that this rum performs really well in a Daiquiri.
All my Tastings and Scores are purely based on “Rums under £50”. I rarely look at Rums over £50 for my YouTube.
Not as good as Havana Club in a daiquiri and not as good as Hamilton White Stache in the role it fills.
Unfortunately, both pure and in the daiquiri absolutely inconsequential ... Pure he tastes too much like solvent and in the daiquiri he just brings so little flavor and power that you could also drink equal lime sugar water on ice. I have not yet experienced that a rum in the daiquiri simply zero comes through. For me, therefore, an absolute failure of this product ...
