How does this rum taste?
Most praise its heavy, dark Enmore profile, stunning nose and integrated strength. Critics mention notable bitterness and soy/Maggi notes. Consensus: a top-tier, characterful old Demerara for serious sipping.
If you enjoy old Enmore or RA 1994 REV-style Demeraras, this will likely hit the spot with its dark wood, licorice and leather depth at a very manageable cask-ish strength.
Beginners, sweet-rum lovers and anyone sensitive to bitterness or umami/soy-like notes who might find the dry, heavy, old-wood profile too challenging.

By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 270,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 50,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

RumX rarities day 1. A heavy, dark nose of varnish and old wet wood. Look for tropical fruit. Slight bourbon in the background. The same heavy, dark side is present on the palate. We go underground, a vaulted cellar with a dirt floor, a smell of mystery and old smoke. The finish is super-long on wet varnished wood. Light vanilla, pencil lead and brown sugar come through. I love these atypical rums that tell a story. It's a long way from a light, easy-drinking rum, but I'm fascinated by the red cargo here.
Heavy and dark. A real firecracker! A highlight from the RumX Rarities Sample Set. 😊
Having been invited to a friends today for an early tasting of some of his demerara collection. An amazing rum :-)
