By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Needs some time in the glass, but then the rum drives an impressive spectrum of spices, fruits, heavy sweetness and even some minerality. Seems like an EHP with a touch of Versailles, but this can probably only be speculated. In any case, an excellent drop.
RumX rarities day 1. A heavy, dark nose of varnish and old wet wood. Look for tropical fruit. Slight bourbon in the background. The same heavy, dark side is present on the palate. We go underground, a vaulted cellar with a dirt floor, a smell of mystery and old smoke. The finish is super-long on wet varnished wood. Light vanilla, pencil lead and brown sugar come through. I love these atypical rums that tell a story. It's a long way from a light, easy-drinking rum, but I'm fascinated by the red cargo here.
The nose is intense and complex. Prune, leather, spice and some currant. On the palate, salty licorice and a pleasant dryness. Leather, spice, coffee and an earthy undertone. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Wow, a real highlight!
the #1 from the Rarities set. To start on the nose brine, a bit like the continental PMs. Then after more standing time in the glass, licorice, mocha, caramel, pencil. I can also relate to the currant. Also kind of dusty-dry, but that's meant in a positive way. Reminds me of the '85 RA VSG now. On the palate a nice balance between fruit and coffee, leather. The rather moderate ABV contributes to a very pleasant, almost mild finish, with old barrel. Class part!
