Nice bottle for an average rum. Based on tannins, leather, which is quite pleasant on the nose but poorer on the palate, though with a marked floral side that is quite unusual and interesting. Very little length. A rum that's a little closed - you have to give it time, it's nice and original but nothing more.
For me, it smells and tastes more like a rhum agricole that has been aged for ages: woody, herbal, dry, not very complex and more like a very dry, somewhat oxidized sherry. I love rhum agricole and am a big Saint James fan, but this bottle didn't convince me.
