Velier Port Mourant PM
This is an intense, herbal-heavy Port Mourant: plenty of tea, wood, licorice, and warming spice. Alcohol integration is debated, but if you appreciate bitter, woody Demerara rums, it's one to try.
Intense, woody Port Mourant with complex herbal backbone.

How does this rum taste?
- nicely balanced between wood, herbal, vanilla sweetness
- complexity, above all intensity
- extremely long, refreshing finish
Port Mourant 1993 Velier is classic PM with dominant woody, herbal, and tea notes, balanced by dark fruits and a touch of burnt sugar. The herbal-woody punch is “distinctively Port Mourant on the nose” (@DomM) and the intense, licorice-spice profile leaves a long finish that “reminds me of Rum Cask PM 1997, but the Velier ups the complexity and intensity” (@mto75). Alcohol presence is noticeable, “not as refined as other ones in the session” (@Tom Buteneers), but for lovers of heavy, bitter, and tea-driven Demeraras, it hits the spot.

"It has a very similar basic profile to the two El Dorados from 97 and 99, but appears somewhat more balanced - far less acidity on the palate, but a little more wood and heavy sweetness. However, the alcohol is very present, which for me results in clear deductions. One of the weaker Velier Demeraras."
"Pure licorice and wood. Alcohol could be better integrated, but for people who like port mourant it's probably one of the better ones. Personally, it's far too bitter for me and I just don't like liquorice🙈😂"
"Great nose! A little too much punch on the palate."
"Continuing my attack on my present 😍 This is a really nice release. The fruit is very subtle and almost not detectable. I didn't get it until 30 minutes of resting. Intense and the flavors are really well balanced with the ABV. Would have loved a few bottles on my shelves 😊"
