A very special animal with its Port Ellen finish. Although I‘m not a huge fan of Islay Whiskies this combination works very well and makes a rounded and complex Rum/Whisky combo.

This is one of my favourite diamond releases and the price tag is definitely matching what you get. I other words a very good buy at release. The nose is fruity with caramel and maple as well as very light smoky wood. The palate is complex with fruit, smoky wood and spices and a light tobacco note. The finish is long with smoky wood, orange and nice spices.

Ich mag solche Hybride eigentlich nicht, entweder Whisky oder Rum. Der hier hat mich aber überzeugt dass sowas auch gut funktionieren kann. Die Whiskynoten sind da und der "peat smoke" ist schon heftig aber verdecken das Port Mourant Profil nicht sondern ergänzen Komplexität. Gefällt mir, und ist eine Erweiterung des Horizonts.

In der Nase angenehme Frucht und leichter Rauch… relativ verhalten, etwas Alkohol kommt auch durch! Der Gaumen ist da viel intensiver… anfangs die typischen Aromen des Diamond, wechselt es schnell in Richtung rauchigem Whisky… was meines Erachtens den Geschmack etwas zu sehr dominiert! Im Abgang auch wieder das Rauchige und Dörrobst! Ich bin hier etwas zwiegespalten, das Ganze funktioniert zwar, aber ich denke, das Whiskyfinish hat der Diamond nicht nötig !

Probiert als 5cl Sample. Wow, was für eine Nase. Lack, Speck, Salz und Malz. Das hatte ich bisher bei einem Rum so noch nie, kein bisschen süße oder Frucht. Geschmacklich ähnlich, mit einer minimalen sauer, fruchtigen Spur (evtl. Limette). Dazu Meerwasser, Menthol, Teer, Lösungsmittel. Ziemlich langer Abgang. Sehr gewöhnungsbedürftiger, für mich außergewöhnlicher Rum, ganz anders als alle die ich bisher probiert habe. Interessant ist er, bin mir aber unsicher ob er mein Ding ist. Nach etwas Ruhezeit werde ich ihn noch einmal verkosten.

Das ist wieder so ein "Nasen-Rum" 😀 Geschmeidig zieht er durch die Nasenflügel, mit Speck,Rauch, leicht schokoladig,aber ich finde auch ein wenig muffig. Am Gaumen will er es dann wissen und haut dir die volle Ladung Schärfe( nicht die alkoholische) entgegen,wieder gepaar mit Speck,Würze und Rauch. Nach ein paar Schluck zieht sich dir der Mund zusamm und deine Speicheldrüsen laufen auf Hochtouren.😀 Eine ganze Flasche wäre mir zu viel.😉
