Hammer part! Insanely round and balanced.
Very good representative of the already very convincing Hampden 1990 vintage. As expected, we encounter overripe tropical fruits, wood and spices - plus heavy sweetness, fresh green aromas and hints of meaty bacony notes. Excellent barrel selection.
Many thanks to DevidedByZero for the sample. Nose: smells strictly like Hampden, even from a distance 😁 I find a cool minty note and it's somehow more realistic than I remember from T.D.L or old KFM. There's also smoke on the palate and once again relatively little cask influence, very tasty! The finish is long and intense with additional smoke and bacon A great Hampden but I would have to taste the 1990 and 1992 side by side to say which is better and I would bet that there is a different winner each time! What really amazes me is that there don't seem to be any of these old bottlings that have had too much cask.
What a lovely rum. From opening the bottle you can get the flavours jus oozing out. Resting it for 15 minutes sets free even more flavours. Very fruity from nose to finish. Lovely finish with a touch of barrel.
