How does this rum taste?
The Dillon VSOP is a well-regarded rum from Martinique, distilled at the Depaz distillery. Crafted from sugar cane juice and aged for 4 years, it is appreciated for its balanced and complex aroma of vanilla and wood, alongside subtle notes of cinnamon and chocolate. On the palate, it offers a predominantly woody and vanilla profile with hints of sugarcane and dark chocolate, delivering a rounded tasting experience. Users note that it serves as an excellent introduction to agricole rums, striking a balance between a robust and sophisticated character. While not considered particularly unique, it remains an approachable and reliable choice for many rum enthusiasts.

I don’t know what it is about Dillon but they just do it for me. I fricking love this thing. The first agricole rum I ever had that I actually got excited by and that made me get why cane juice rum is an art form worth discovering. Agricoles inherently have a savageness and a wildness to them and in my opinion you don’t want them tamed too much. I often like the vsop expressions better than the xo’s. If there’s no fight left in them you lose one of the biggest charms of the agricole taste experience. This Dillon VSOP is right in that sweet spot between fierce and sophisticated. A tremendous expression and highly recommended.
A good example to get in touch with Agricole Rum.
Basic farming. Woody. Vanilla sensation. Not bad. But nothing special either.
