Engenhos do Norte 970 Single Cask Edition 2007
Most praise its thick, woody, Madeira-wine character and complex dried-fruit spices. Critics find it very dry, heavy on oak and slightly bitter. Consensus: a powerful, characterful, solid single cask.
Agricole fans and bourbon/sherry drinkers who enjoy dry, oak-driven, wine-influenced spirits with tobacco, leather and dried-fruit notes at respectable cask-style strength.

How does this rum taste?
Dry, woody, powerful Madeira agricole
If you enjoy dry, sherry/Madeira cask whiskies or oak-heavy agricoles, this is a natural next step: powerful, woody and complex, but it won’t please sweet-tooth newcomers.
Those sensitive to higher ABV, anyone wanting sweet, fruity or easygoing rums, and drinkers who dislike strong oak, dryness or bitter-tannic finishes.

A very thick and woody 970 rum. French oak soaked with madeira wine. It's very prominent. I do get a hint of it's agricole base. Lots of winterly spices. Whiff of menthol. Cherries and black currants (dryish). Pretty good. Retry: almost like an old sherry cask. Dried raisins. Currants. Still very very good.
Thick, powerful, dirty touch, warming. Very nice one.
This now is on the threshold of being very nice. Some complexity now with some saddle and tobacco notes start to make the tasting more intriguing a little bitter in the end but over all a very solid entry.
Schöner komplexer 970, bei dem mir etwas die Früchte fehlen.
