How does this rum taste?
- Ausgezeichneter Blend mit toller Caroni-Basis
- Jamaican funk and some sublime Demerara richness
- complex, dry, intense, strong, full bodied
RumX members zone in on the blend's hallmark notes: bold Caroni-derived rubber and tar, layered with tropical and dried fruits, and an assertive woody spice on nose and palate. The complexity is unmistakable, with some calling it “dreckige Note, aber nicht zu aufdringlich” - F.L.O., and others noting the “dirty Caroni, sweet Guyana/Demerara and fruity Jamaican rum” - Philip M. 🇧🇪. While the Caroni element is often center stage, vanilla, cocoa, and hints of leather and tobacco come through with time. The long, sometimes slightly bitter finish is cited, and most drinkers mention the integration of all three origins – but a few wished for more subtlety.

To Multi Distilleries
"Excellent blend with a great caroni base! My navy reference."
"an exceptional blend 🤤"
"3 super rums from 3 countries, which would probably be convincing on their own, combined into a beautiful blend. The individual components are noticeable. The dirty notes of Caroni, the heavy sweetness of Demerara and the fruity esters of Hampden."
"Velier's Navy Rum. I had high expectations. It's true that the blend is very successful. First there's the Caroni with its empyreumatic machine-shop notes, then the funky Jamaican fruitiness and finally the Demerara, which rounds things out with its roundness and old leather. The same thing in the same order on the palate. But it leaves me wanting more, perhaps a little too hot? Tastes clash a little. I'm not a fan, but I recognize all its qualities, and there are many of them, especially in direct comparison with the already very good Black Tot 2020. Another tasting and more oxidation, it's getting better and better and its rating is rising. Bottle almost empty, this rum is very beautiful. Jamaica takes over with oxidation. Caroni is still present on the nose and a little on the palate."
