Companero Ron Gran Reserva
Banana, honey, and wood on the nose, dry on palate.
Bright banana and honey greet the nose, while mild spice, wood, and burnt sugar define the palate, though the finish is dry and notably diluted. RumX tasters appreciate the complex aroma, but score the taste as lighter—making this a community-backed choice for those who prefer subtle, easy sippers.

How does this rum taste?
Ripe banana and stone fruit aromas lead the way in Companero Ron Gran Reserva, with honey and subtle wood notes capturing attention. On the palate, it's a gentle, mildly spicy rum, featuring burnt sugar and a noticeably dry, diluted profile. While the nose is widely praised for its fruity vibrancy, some find the palate less expressive—yet it remains a straightforward 15-year blend that invites discovery for those valuing gentle, dessert-inspired rums. Worth a sip for fans of mellow, easygoing profiles.

Rather weak, hardly any flavors present, especially in the mouth and aftertaste. The base spirit was probably already not good, but the rum was watered down too much, but still has a rather alcoholic sharpness.

Original impressions from 2017 rum calendar. Nose: ** Taste: ** Overall: ** ”Whiskeysmak.” Five years since I firat sampled this rum and I gotta say I don’t find the taste of whiskey at all. My younger me probably got it all wrong :) anyway the nose is banana with some chemical smell to it. Palate is banana and barrel with some sweetness in the back. A little in the dry side.
