How does this rum taste?
RumX members rave about this 2005 New Yarmouth as a true fruit bomb: loads of tropical fruit and banana with esters and oak on the nose and palate. Reviews highlight a naturally sweet, oily-creamy mouthfeel, long fruity finish and alcohol that’s very well integrated. With only 221 bottles, it’s a highly praised cask strength Jamaica that fans are very happy to own and open.

#5911 31.10.2025 Attending Tom and Barbli's wedding in Belgium and it was a monster of an event with a very nice after party the following day. This is also a very good release and again I have secured a bottle for myself. Another fruit bomb with a well balanced and naturally sweet palate. The finish is also very long and fruity with some nice and light spicy sweetness to it.
Direct comparison of the two new 2005 New Yarmouths. The TWJ has a little less ester at the beginning, here the fruit flavors come through a little stronger, banana is noticeable, which I miss in the TBS. A citrus note at the beginning, slightly more acidity overall than in the TBS. However, the noses get closer over time and I can no longer distinguish them blind. The esters are also less pronounced on the palate and it seems somewhat fruitier. Nice oily, creamy texture. Both have a long finish and the alcohol is well integrated. Overall, I find the TWJ slightly smoother and more balanced and it is therefore slightly ahead. But I'm sure it depends on your mood on the day. I'm glad to have a bottle of both.
25-10-2025 - Rate 9.2 By now it’s no surprise that I love New Yarmouth. 1994 is the absolute favorite New Yarmouth year. Som 2005 with more age is starting to pop up and they are really great. Nose of tropical fruit, banana, ester and oak. Taste that follows the nose quit well. Still tropical fruits, ester, methanol and oak. Long finish with tropical fruits, oak and esters as the dominating flavor. 01-11-2025 - Rate 9.1 06-11-2025 - Rate 9.2 05-12-2025 - Rate 9.0 12-12-2025 - Rate 8.9
Attention grosse balle !!! Un des meilleurs NY que j’ai eu l’occasion de déguster !! Du fruit à gogo, un alcool hyper bien intégré, une longueur de dingue… à avoir ou à goûter absolument 😍😍 C’est une explosion en bouche ❤️❤️
