Sehr verführerische Nase an der Grenze zwischen klassisch-britischem Stil aus Demerara und süssem, spanischen Stil. Die Süsse macht den Rum ausgesprochen zugänglich, die schweren Guyana-Aromen bieten dazu verlockende Tiefe. Am Gaumen zeigt der Rum dann deutlich mehr Charakter, es wird etwas würziger und vermutlich lässt sich durch den immer noch dezent schnittigen Abgang erkennen, warum die Verdünnung gewählt wurde. Ich werde auch die Vermutung nicht ganz los, dass hier noch mit einem Sherry-Finish gearbeitet wurde, zumindest geschmacklich scheint mir das nicht ausgeschlossen. An die anderen Diamond-Vertreter aus den 90iger Jahren denkend, insbesondere die aus rein tropischer Lagerung, bleibt natürlich auch die Frage, was noch möglich gewesen wäre mit ein paar Prozentpunkten Alkohol mehr im Glas. Sei es drum - auch so macht diese Release Freude und bietet einen sehr runden, ausgesprochen süffigen Demerara-Rum auf hohem qualitativem Niveau.
