Velier Cabeza Llena 1948
Highly praised as a historic, elegant Cuban with complex rancio, old wood and caramel. Very smooth and vivid for its age, with a focused, medium finish noted by several tasters.
Seasoned enthusiasts of old-school Cuban profiles who enjoy elegant wood, rancio, tobacco and dried fruit in a contemplative, historically significant sipper.

How does this rum taste?
Historic, elegant old‑school Cuban
If you enjoy mature, dry Cuban rums like other 1940s releases, this takes that style to its limit: deep rancio, polished wood and caramel with a refined, easy-drinking structure.
Beginners or value-focused buyers who dislike tannic, dry profiles or cannot justify paying premium pricing for ultra‑old, collectible rum.

A rum tasted at Whisky Live Paris 2025. A very refined and beautiful nose that bears its age. Dry, varnished old wood, volatile, caramel and a slight rancio note. Unfortunately, the palate is a little lacking, with dry wood, bitter caramel and a touch of acidity. If you compare it with Chapter 7 from the same year, there's no comparison. The palate clearly lags behind, without the exceptional rancio. The finish is moderately long, with good acidity and a surprisingly vinous side. The caramel and old varnished wood remain for a long time. A very fine rum and liquid history.
Auto-translatedMessetasting Whisky Live Paris.
