Edit: in MaiTai it tastes great to me, corrected upwards. A direct comparison with the brothers from 2005 will follow. From the first impression, a really very good nose. In terms of taste, it can easily keep up with other 2005s. A direct comparison will follow, so for now a first assessment of the points.

The rum has now been in the glass for about 30 minutes and my older daughter has just come into the "study" and said: "Dad, it smells really bad in here!" Nose: pure Jamaica! With a great promise of ripe, sweet, tropical fruit. Glue and varnish are of course also in the mix Palate: wonderful! The promise of the nose is fulfilled with plenty of sweetness and just the right amount of pressure from the alcohol. Finish: long and pleasant, without the olive/salt brine that sometimes bothers me with Hampden. THIS is Jamaican rum! All those who like ester spectacles: go for it!

I haven't had a really bad 2005 NY in my glass yet and this one definitely follows suit! Nose and palate are incredibly harmonious and combine tropical fruits, esters, varnish and young wood to perfection!

With a New Yarmouth 2005, you can always expect a good bottling. And you won't be disappointed. This 2005 NY is also outstanding. On the nose, the full load of Jamaica with funk, ester, fruit and marzipan. On the palate, a complex variety of wood, fruit, esters, light acidity, some tannins and funk. That's how it should be. The finish is initially on the woody and bitter side, but later becomes slightly fruity again. Overall, a very good bottling. A clear recommendation

The guy is really sensational fun. Thanks to Zabo for the sample and, of course, compliments to the bottle store and precious liquors. This rum is as powerful as it is balanced. ABV perfectly integrated

Direct comparison of the two new 2005 New Yarmouths. I have more esters in the nose at the beginning of the Bottleshop than with TWJ. Otherwise fruits and glue dominate here, nail polish. A little less acidity than the TWJ. After some time in the glass, however, the noses get closer and closer and I could no longer tell the two apart blind. The palate is dominated by esters and tropical fruits. Pineapple stands out here. Slightly more esters than the TWJ. Overall a little rougher than the TWJ. Conclusion: Both great bottlings, the TWJ has the edge due to a slightly higher smoothness. But I'm glad to have a bottle of both, they're also good value.

Sniffing the bottle makes you feel good again. In the glass: First marzipan on the nose, then the esters hit through lots of glue and nail polish. Alcohol perfectly integrated. Some baking sensation slowly follows. Great. On the palate. Very fine sensation in the first sip, the esters are there immediately. Lots of pineapple and banana. Tannins are noticeable. With this abv of 58.8, the rum is incredibly accessible for me and then offers everything you need. To remain critical, the rum is perhaps even a little too round at the end, but that suits it well in terms of taste. On the nose, however, it is simply outstanding. That's why a 9 has to go in front of the decimal point. Great bottling. Thanks to the bottleshop for the selection 🇯🇲🥃😊

Really tasty NY 2005, but I like the more recent ones a bit better. Will certainly deliver in May Tai. I thought about it for a long time but decided against a whole bottle.

A nose of esters, banana, mango, strawberry and other red fruits, which, solvents....waouh! The palate is beautifully complex. Toasted walnuts and light marzipan are added to the previous markers, a real delight. A slight smokiness appears from time to time on the finish. Long finish. Makes you want to dive in again and again. Stefan, my friend, what are you up to now?! A notch above the twj for me, you can really feel the 7 years of tropical aging. My favorite of the year (along with twj's wonderful hampden 97)!

High Ester new Yarmouth is quite something. Lots of moisture and varnish/solvent, as well as sweet cookies. Young and wild; that's what makes Jamaican rum really fun. But also very astringent on the finish.

I like it, tasty New Yarmouth profile with everything that needs to be there. It's enough on the nose but round at the same time. You can take it with you without hesitation. Let it stand for a while, it's really good for you.

Extreme fruity (from start tot finish). Very easy drinking and enjoyable rum. Some glue in the nose. The coconut in palate is subtle. Blind i would have guessed Hampden. Wouldn't give this the price tag, bit I guess that's NY.

Anyone who follows me a bit knows that my darling is New Yarmouth. After a long time, I tasted a new bottle: The Bottle Shop New Yarmouth 2005 NYE/WM 58.8% - this is a rum distilled in 2025 and aged in bourbon barrels in Jamaica (i.e. tropically) for 7 years. Bottled for The Bottle Shop in 2025. The NYE/WM mark indicates a higher ester content, i.e. 1,300 - 1,400 g/HLAA. My tasting observations: lots of glue, tropical fruit, especially there is a strong pineapple nose and a lot of young wood on the finish and a nice long finish. Very pleasant, doesn't sting, the alcohol is well integrated and the esters give it a proper Jamaican funky kick. Recommended. For me a very hilarious, relatively young, New Yarmouth. The price is 185 Euro, which is a fair price for such a New Yarmouth.
