“The rum has only had one rating so far, a long time ago, 86 points. The rum doesn't seem to be very well known. For a New Grove, 86 points is comparatively high, which made me curious. After tasting it, I can say: yes, the rum can really be considered a success - after breathing for a while - even though it doesn't quite reach 86 points in my opinion. The alcohol is relatively present, but recedes into the background the longer it lingers. This molasses rum is dominated by a taste of red fruits, which is entirely in keeping with its color. It reminds me a little of the profile of Savanna, a rum from the neighboring island of Réunion. I find it unusual, but commendable, that not only the bottle number, as with many single casks, but also other information (Limousin Oak!) is handwritten on the label. Update 2023-05-23: Must clearly upgrade this rum today, because today it tastes incredibly intense of mint and menthol, almost like a good TDL 2003. Superb! Update 2023-05-25: Had to pour the rum again because of the very different previous two tasting results. And am now convinced: A TDL from Mauritius! 😳😋😋😋😋 I'm still amazed that I didn't recognize the high quality of the rum straight away. And even more so that no one else seems to have had it on their radar.”

“Ja das macht Spass. Schöner Mauritius mit schöner leichter Klebstoffnote und sowohl pflanzlichen sowie schöner Mango mit Erbeere. Im Geschmack und Abgang dann durchaus ordentlich Würzigkeit sowie Holz vorhanden. Aber auch die pflanzlichen Noten (Minzigkeit) sind sehr lecker. Super Produkt!!!”

“No doubt, the nose is very similar to the first tasting candidate NG Standard 5yo 40%: the Grays typical nectarines and apricots are very concise, the glue is more pronounced than in the 40% version, and there is also a pleasant acidity. The palate is much more complex and the body more balanced. The nectarines and apricots from the nose are joined by grapes, oranges and sour apples. The slight acidity from the palate can also be found in the finish, which becomes drier and drier towards the end. For me, this is the best bottling from Mauritus to date and from now on my favorite distillery from this beautiful island. A very good rum that gives hope for more good bottlings from this distillery. 85 points”
