Very round Caroni, which has also the slight reduction to Navy Strength at least not noticeably harmed. The rum brings the 96 sweetness again clearly expressed, in addition sounds rubber, fresh oak and vorallem a present spiciness of coffee, pepper and clove. Was for a long time a still well available Caroni representative from 1996, but has now "caught up" and is also increasing in price - but here it may at least be noted that the quality in the glass is absolutely convincing. An excellent representative of the m.E. anyway outstanding vintage 1996.

Definitely a good rum but mouth is quite disapointing with some pepper / chilli notes which are quite disturbing. Alcohol integration could have been better as well for the nose. What a surprise for a diluted version of "Trespassers" bottling, one of my favourite Caroni 👀

Wirklich unfassbare Qualität. Definitiv eins meiner Highlight-Rums bisher. Ewiger Abgang, aber trotzdem sehr runder ausgewogener 96er Caroni. Beim 2. Tasting immer noch ein Rum zum Niederknien. Wow.

#24 RumXCalendar Blind tasting: N: cocconut, tar, rubber, spicy, dirty, woody, rosted nuts M: complex, dry, spicy, tar, woody, rubber, leather, oak F:Dark Chocolate, tar, minty, oak, vanilla, toffee Prediction: Caroni, for sure 😎, approx. 65% and with 20 years What a great rum for the 24th! Great mix of fruits and caroni. Very balanced and pleasant to drink. It’s a high 90 candidate, if it wasn‘t watered down.. Update: Found this is a small restaurant in italy. After the second sip, still an amazing rum.

RumX Advent Calendar, 24.12, blind.First impression: a super Demerara, direction CBH, or TDL? With time, the increasingly dirty and minty, vlt. but Caroni? nose: incredibly beautiful, compact, aromatic, round. Spicy-fruity with orange, cherry, grape and berries as well as vanilla, tobacco and light licorice. Lovely woody and a fine vinegar note to it. Fresh mint, light at the beginning, getting stronger at the end. With time it gets dirtier and goes towards Caroni.Palate: complex, tasty. Minty and pleasantly woody, slightly bitter and malty-spicy. In fruit I find cassis, lemon, orange peel, peach, candied orange peel. Some anise and leather and a touch of pistachio. Hardly dirty on the palate.A beautiful, fruity and compact Caroni with less dirty flavors.

very round Caroni, on the nose dried apricot, caramel sweetness, furniture polish, spices (allspice / vanilla) and wood barrel. On the palate also rather sweet and spicy notes. The toasty/charred notes occur here rather discreetly, not as brute as in the 93 vintage for a long time.

This is a Caroni from one of their exceptional years and it is a great rum. This rum is very hard to find and the price is very high now. Typical Caroni with rubber and tar, yum. Lots of wood and wood tannins with added fruity notes and spices. Lightly dry but we'll balanced and complex. Would have loved a few backup bottles of this particular one.

Vor einem Jahr bereits im Glas gehabt - und nochmal WOW! Ganz großes Caroni-Kino! Ein sehr guter Vertreter der 1996 Caronis! Dreckig, Phenol, Lack, Teer, Fass, ölig, die ganze Werkstatt ist dabei! Voll ins Gesicht - zeigt ein sehr umfangreiches Geschmacksspektrum und ist ein absolutes Muss für alle Caroni-Liebhaber!

RumXmas #24, blind: Very “Foursquare” in the nose, but the dirty, tarry and rubbery Caroni is present on the palate. The good, balanced kind, fruity and very well rounded. The one it comes closest to in my experience so far, is a Cadenhead’s Caroni 1998 TMCG, but there the “dirty aspects” are less present compared to this one. Alcohol probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 60%. Absolutely brilliant, one of the highlights of the calendar. Tag 24 im RumX Adventskalender und meine Nase ist zu aber es ist Weihnachten und ich musste probieren 😁 In der Nase erstmal Holz und Kokosnuss, wo Barbados nicht weit ist. Mit etwas Zeit im Glas nehm ich Rosinen und Marzipan wahr. Frohe Weihnachten 🎄 Am Gaumen dann plötzlich eine süße ich habe Beeren, ich habe unglaublich leckeren komplexen Stoff den ich heute gar nicht richtig in Einzelteile zerlegen kann. Finish ist leicht warm, immer noch etwas süß, würzig und vor allem präsent. Mit viel Geduld bekomme ich auch die ,"dreckigen" Caroni Momente. Insgesamt toll ausbalanciert. Das ist Premium, auch mit geschlossener 👃😁 Merry Xmas allen Rumfreunden hier🎄

Caramel color, with red hues on the edge Nose: it starts of with delicate fruity notes of pineapple and coconut, with a “dirty” background of dust and glue. The barrel note is also present, and a very faint vanilla. With some “professional” slurping, the gasoline, rubber and tar notes really shine through. Palate: less fruity on the palate, where sweet flavor of honey, caramel and dark chocolate take over, leaving behind that dusty sensation as the spirit goes down the throat. There’s a sustained astringency, along with a nice warmth left by the rum.

Mit dem 34rd Release 96er Caroni ein absolut würdiger Abschluss des RX-Kalender. Gefällt mir ausgesprochen gut. Viele dunkle Fruchtnoten/Trockenfrüchte. Aber auch die typischen Werkststtnoten mit Teer und Gummi. Hier aber eher im Hintergrund. Auch auf diesem Weg ein Dankeschön an das RX-Orgateam für den tollen Kalender.👍

"The Last" Caroni Light! Ich glaube das trifft es ganz gut. Die Parallelen zur Benchmark, sind mMn deutlich vorhanden. Der wesentliche Unterschied? Ganz klar die Intensität, denn die Verdünnung des Heavy verbleibt natürlich nicht spurlos. Dennoch ist er überaus komplex, fruchtig, getrocknete Früchte, tropische Früchte, Klebstoff, Politur und wunderbar warm und süß in der Nase. Im Gaumen etwas dünn, dennoch mundfüllend, süß. Die Frucht nimmt etwas ab, mehr Würze, Holz, Politur und Kerosin. Eine wunderbare, etwas günstigere Alternative zum "The Last"

Tag 24, Heiligabend RumX Adventskalender: beim ersten Riechen musste ich sofort an Foursquare denken, Kokosnuss, süß, würzig, Lösungsmittel und Rosine. Auch beim Gaumen fühlte ich mich bestätigt und legte mich auf Foursquare 2008 fest, wenn ich mir auch hinsuchtlich des Alters nicht sicher war, da 2008 ggf zu jung sein könnte. Mal wieder voll daneben. Erneut ein Caroni. Sehr lecker, aber die wohl typischen, dreckigen, Aromen habe ich echt nicht erkannt. Im Abgang vielleicht etwas Kräuter, Menthol und Anis. Insgesamt ein toller Rum.

I might have done too many burnouts, but there is neither tar nor rubber. But there is an amazing complexity on the nose. The rum needs some time to rest in the glas and over time it develops an amazing range of aroma. On the palate, the rum is less complex, the cask is slightly too present and the abv could be better integrated. It doesn’t match the expectations of the nose but is still a complex or better, challenging rum. The finish is very long, dominated by the cask

Mega Lecker. Schöne Trinkstärke und tropisch gereift ist bei Caroni einfach eine Qualitätsaussage. Schöne Teer und Gumminoten. Auch etwas fruchtig. Lief lange Zeit etwas unter dem Radar aber ein sehr angenehmer Vertreter des 1996er Jahrgangs, wenn man grade kein Full Proof braucht
