Der Engenhos do Norte 970 Madeira Cask 2018 zeigt kräftige Röst- und Holzaromen mit Noten von Schokolade, Cappuccino, Malz und Melasse. In der Nase Karamell, Cola und Portwein, aber insgesamt eher flach. Am Gaumen ist der Alkohol deutlich spürbar und nicht gut eingebunden, was ihn scharf und unausgewogen wirken lässt. Die Würze und Bitternoten bleiben prägend, Frucht und Süße kommen hauptsächlich aus dem Fass und überdecken den Rum. Insgesamt solide, aber kein Knaller.
