By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Rich, luxurious and well balanced blend of the constituent countries iconic flavour profiles. It is dangerously drinkable. There is so much in the way of taste from all the components which could be listed but at the same time I think it is one that is best enjoyed in the round and not overly dissected. It’s just a lovely rum. Personally I would note that I think it is a big improvement on the 2024 which leaned too heavily on a Foursquare profile (which while good, wasn’t what I would look for in a navy/ black tot blended rum), and so it is back to a more balanced blend, or one which uses a greater proportion of Guyana in the mix which, rightly or wrongly, I appreciate more for a navy style rum.
#5518 31.07.2025 Celebrating Black Tot Day with a sample of the new one of which I have ordered a few bottles. Nose Wood, light roasted, light anise, dried fruit, spice, faint pencil shavings, light orange, light varnish. Palate Oily, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light spicy, light anise, light herbs, light prunes, faint chocolate. Finish Long and warm, wood, dried fruit, faint caramel light cinnamon, faint orange, light spicy, herbs. Empty glass Light caramel, light chocolate, raisin, herbs, faint medicinal.
Anyone who swears by the Black Tot 50th Anniversary is more than well served with the 2025 edition. An absolutely positive surprise! The clearly noticeable Caroni components could have played a part in this.
