Was offered samples of the two different Arehucas 2005 rums from a friend. They are made from pure cane juice without any additives in the same spirit as the two releases of distillates from 2002. I tasted them together out in the Stockholm archipelago. This rating is about the Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish. The nose is complex but a little weak with aromas of dried fruits, spices, and sherry. At the palate it’s full bodied, complex and a little sweet with flavors of caramel, dates, nuts and oak. The finish is rather long, warm, complex and herbal with notes of cinnamon.
