How does this rum taste?
Most love the fruity‑spicy “chai” profile, sweetness and superb alcohol integration. Critics note sour edges, some flatness and a short, dry finish. Consensus: a very good, characterful Ghana sipper.
If you like bold agricole or Mhoba but want less grass and more chai‑spice fruit, this Ghana cask is a fun detour—just be ready for the strength and dry finish.
Newcomers, anyone sensitive to 60%+ ABV, or drinkers who dislike dry, slightly acidic and spicy profiles without classic grassy agricole notes.

30.08.2025 Retasting at the German Rum Fest 2025. -------------- #5553 13.08.2025 Running a few samples while relaxing in my recliner 😊 Nose Round, light wood, faint smoke, faint polish, light cherry, light earthy, faint vanilla, faint grass. Palate Round, light wood, light roasted, light nutts, light caramel, faint coconut, light olive, cardamom, light cherry. Finish Medium to long, light wood, faint coffee, faint floral, spice, light tobacco. Empty glass Light tobacco, light pear, nutts, cinnamon.
Un rhum gouté au GRF en 2025. Masterclass RumClub.
Subtly fruity on the nose (light fruit), becoming sweeter and more palatable on the palate. One should not be misled by the initial unimpressiveness. Smoky and woody on the finish. Not the crusher like the Nanny or the Cudjoe, rather sweeter and more pleasing and not recognizable as Ghanaian from the outside. What really stands out is the incredibly good integration of the alcohol. I didn't want to give the rum 80 points at first, but fortunately I was patient enough and it is becoming more and more appealing.
Fruity nose with sugar cane and spices. On the palate, instead of citrus fruits and green apple, tropical fruits and various Christmas spices such as cinnamon, cardamom and vanilla. The subtle roasted aroma turns into a ravenous aroma in the finish. The alcohol is perfectly integrated; the 64.3% is not noticeable
