How does this rum taste?
The Fasssprache Tasting Set by Wagemut explores the influence of wood on rum maturation like never before. A light Trinidad rum, aged three years in ex-Bourbon barrels, was then matured for six additional months in 15 distinct barrels, each crafted from a different wood type. This experimental set offers a unique sensory journey, where you can compare the impact of ash, walnut, various oaks, and more. The set includes 16x 2cl samples, a booklet, and a detailed YouTube video hosted by Nicolas Kröger and cooper Markus Eder, who explain each wood’s effect on flavor, aging, and barrel-making. A must for anyone curious about the role of wood in spirit aging.

It's been over a year since I was allowed to taste this set. It's an interesting experiment where you can really recognize slight differences, but the difference isn't too big either.
A great set with 16 different barrel maturations. It is not possible to say in the evaluation which aromas are present, as each wood gives off different aromas. If you want to get to grips with the subject of cask maturation, this is the right set for you. A nobrainer at the current sale price of 49.99 €. There is also a QR code for tasting with lots of information about this project.
