First time on two counts: - 1) First time with actual Agricole rum 2) First time with Madeira cask influenced anything Have to say it is just a bottle crack today but I do like what I’m having the now - this score will be revisited at a later date as neck pours can’t possibly dictate a score Complex for sure, there’s lots of layers to peel away at here: - Nose - definitive grassy, vegetal green note that comes from an Agricole rum (admittedly I’m basing this on notes from other Agricole rums I haven’t tried) that eventually opens up to caramel and some citrusy orange notes with some figs Palate - it literally draws out the moisture from your cheeks and tongue! Quite astringent and dry (wonder if it’s been matured in Verdelho Madeira casks as the notes for that are similar to this) as well as caramel, dried and/or dark fruits and candied orange. Finish - medium to long It’s actually quite complex with it evolving over time in the glass keeping you engaged and interested! Now im excited to see how this turns out in a few months or so time once the air has gotten into it and maybe helped it open up a little bit as I feel I’m getting glimpses of what it could be 7.5/10 for now (bottle opened 7/6/2025)
