How does this rum taste?
A blend showcasing classic Jamaican funk, this rum leads with bold ester and overripe pineapple notes, backed by a thread of young wood and tropical fruit. The nose gives “überreife Ananas in der gesamten Küche” (Martin Spooner), while the palate stays “fruity with légère acidité” (Vincent D) and shows off a flash of spice. Some found the alcohol integration a touch rough, but others described it as “un exemple d'intégration” (Luc Brandt). Light funk, mellow sweetness, and a soft woodiness are often mentioned by regulars.

I've now had it both neat and as a mixer in the CubaLibre. Unfortunately, it couldn't really convince me with either. It could best be compared with a Great House from Hampden, but it would also lose this comparison. A solid bottling, but unfortunately nothing more. I didn't taste the New Yarmouth component at all. The low ABV makes it seem a little diluted.
Ein guter Blend, auch wenn das Herausschmecken der unterschiedlichen Bestandteile schwer fällt. Sehr präsente Ester- und Ananasaromen, dazu leichte Holznoten in Nase und Gaumen. Im Gaumen kommt eine gewisse würze dazu, welche bis lang in den Abgang anhält. Persönlich empfinde ich den Alkohol nicht perfekt eingebunden.
After the long delivery time, I decanted the bottle straight away. On the nose, the WP and the NY 94 (cake), also a little sour cream from the HD. Nice balance on the palate between fruit, spice and latte. Very drinkable this thing!
Ziemlich funky und leider nicht ganz so kräftig. Easy sipper für den Sommer würde ich sagen. Sehr fruchtig mit leichtem Ester. Alles in allem etwas dünn. Vielen Dank an Martin für das Sample und besonders für den netten Kontakt.
