I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
This was* a grand arôme from Le Galion which is the only distillery in Martinque that produce rum made from molasses, as well as cane syrup. The unaged spirit was bought from the danish company 1423, then aged for three years in Varberg on heavily toasted oak that came from Ringamåla & Dragaryd. The size of the cask was 40L and had been filled two times. The first time was with blackcurrant juice from Köpings musteri. The rum was most likely distilled in 2019 (same batch as other A-bay private casks from Le Galion, and probably the same as other releases from S.B.S: Martinique & French Antilles from 2019. Though It’s hard to get this confirmed). The 2019 batch is my favourite from Le Galion, so far. BOLD, NUANCED & PACKED of flavours! Surprisingly easy to shove as welll as sip! *Grand arôme rum cannot be aged according to Martinique's AOC so technically it's not.
