Blind wäre ich hier niemals auf St. Lucia gekommen - vielmehr erinnert das Geschmacksbild an einen klassischen Column-Still-Rum im britischen Stil mit ein paar Jahren Lagerung im Ex-Bourbon-Fass nahe an Barbados oder Belize: Viel Eichenholzeinfluss, der sich in satten Vanillin- und Karamellnoten niederschlägt. Dazu am Gaumen etwas Würzigkeit. Insgesamt recht süffig ausgelegt, mir fehlt es an Komplexität.
Surprisingly weak for a Lucia . It's a good rum, but rather boring, lacking the typical spicy glue Lucia DNA.
Werde wohl nie verstehen, warum von SLD so viele Column Still Single Casks abgefüllt werden, wenn es doch so viele, wesentlich bessere Pot-Still-Fässer gibt. Dieses hier ist wirklich eins der Schwächsten, was sowohl am etwas dünnen Mundgefühl, als auch am leicht schwefeligen Abgang liegt. In Summe trotzdem ein sehr ordentlicher Rum mit toller Alkoholintegration, aber für das Geld hat St. Lucia soooo viel mehr zu bieten.
