How does this rum taste?
Fiji’s 2009 ‘The Many Faces of Rum’ leaves no hiding its fruity kick, especially pineapple and citrus—users like SaibotZtar note “kandierte Ananas und Lösungsmittel”, while Jacques etdom calls the nose “trompeur… une ribambelle de fruits tropicaux.” Herbal and woody notes show up consistently on the palate (“very herbal profile in taste” – Stijn Zino), and you’ll detect light smoke and a hint of olive. The finish is generally described as long and warm, needing “some time in the glass to really open up” (Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰), with a restrained bitterness and a gentle, slightly medicinal close. A bottling that splits opinion but offers plenty to pick apart.

#5167 22.03.2025 Tasting at Whisky Watcher, Odense. Nose Fresh, medium intense, fruits, light wood, light pineapple, citrus, spice, faint smoke, light olive. Palate Light oily, light wood, faint smoke, fruits, light citrus, faint caramel, light ginger, faint herbal. Finish Long and warm, fruits, light wood, herbal, light tea, faint medicinal, citrus. Needs some time in the glass to really open up properly.
The nose is deceptive, I would have bet on Jamaica. Pineapple, citrus zest, light smoke, a bevy of tropical fruits. Notes still present on the palate. Very fruity. Some herbaceous notes and spices on the finish. Long, warm finish. A nice surprise!
Less glue in the nose then their 2012 Fiji, but you still get your glue with more fruit. Very herbal profile in taste, which i'm not used to of a Fiji. Almond finish. Interesting rum, but I don't need a bottle in my Fiji collection. This is really a bottle try before you buy, some will like it and some don't.
