"a Savanna traditionnel, 16 years tropical, 5.5 years continental, 4 months TDL 2008 finish...that's a statement! The nose has a typical Savanna profile with bourbon vanilla, overripe tropical fruits, pickled compote, caramel, polish. The TDL finish fits well here, as we're not looking at early 2000s menthol bombs here, but rather yellow fruits (although some freshness does come through). Mocha and leather on the palate, but also brutal tannins, which particularly characterize the finish. An interesting experiment, perhaps a few years less in the barrel would have been enough."

"Great design, very interesting key data, a finish that makes you feel new, a very old Savanna. This could be something! And it will be something! Tropical fruit, even more dark fruit and a pleasant woodiness, plus leather. The consistency is smooth and creamy. The aromas are very intense, mouth-filling on the palate. The finish is also noticeable. The finish is of medium length. Very tasty, but also very expensive at over €200 for 50cl."

"The nose immediately reveals strong fruit molasses notes. I would guess a Grand Arome here, with a very small Herr influence. Creamy, pronounced but deliciously integrated alcohol, full-bodied and round. Really delicious, for the price I'll have to think about buying a bottle."

"Very special rum! Nose: Vegetables, Maggi, wood, celery Palate: Wood, vegetables, celery, light sweetness. Long finish, somewhat astringent. Overall, a traditional savanna only comes through briefly at the very beginning. For me, the rum is past its zenith, and it also has a distinct lack of vegetable notes. I can't really taste the TDL cask finish."

"Tasted at the Multi Verres Spirits show in Lyon in February 2025: superb! The nose is very full and heavy. Weathered wood, TDL fruit. The fruit comes back strongly on the palate, with notes of peach and tea. Quite woody finish, a touch astringent, but very long. The oldest Savanna bottled today?"

"Je le trouve formidable ! Il faut le laisser reposer un peu dans le verre pour ne pas être gêné par l alcool et sa grosse concentration. Il y a une incroyable palette olfactive et gustative. Je n ai rien trouvé de dérangeant , le toutest trèsbienéquilibré.Au début l alcool pourrait paraître un peu trop présent, mais finalement il est bien intégré. Son côté rassurant : fruité, caramel, cerise un peu amer, vanille. Son côté fun : cuir et verni au nez. Bouche : des passages mentholés Fin de bouche : bonbon à la violette Et pour le plaisir des yeux un packaging magnifique !"

"Le nez est phénoménal, avec ce caramel dégoulinant sur ce chocolat au lait. Il y a aussi pas mal de fruits jaunes : brugnon, pêche, abricot. On est aussi frappée par la puissance de l'eucalyptus et quelques marqueurs de camphre qui apporte quelque éléments médicinaux au breuvage. En bouche, l'alcool est un monument d'intégration malgré les 61,3° qui devraient dépoter. On sent nettement l'influence du TDL avec quelques accents goudronnés mais le tout est parfaitement équilibré. Le cuir et le bois humide nous disent qu'on est en présence d'un vieux papy, mais c'est un rhum qui reste frais avec un peu de menthol et d'eucalyptus. Le tout est gras, envahissant, voluptueux, et on évolue vers du bâton de réglisse. La finale est interminable, et revient vers ce qu'on apprécie dans un TDL. On ne sait plus vraiment si on est en présence d'un TDL avec de l'influence réunionnaise, ou un Savanna bercé par la complexité d'un rhum de Trinidad et Tobago. Un super réussite qui mérite selon moi un 93/100. J'ai souvent du mal avec les Savannas, à part quelques exceptions (Madras par exemple qui est un monument), mais le mariage marche du tonnerre ici."

"Had many associations coming to me while experiencing this rum. Very gourmand to me, with notes of dried smoky plum and galia melon on a vanilla, leather base. Funnily enough it reminds me of a Tom Ford perfume. The ending is a bit astringent with traces of black tea and interestingly enough also salty! This savory and briny combination intrigues me and therefore pushes this to a 9.0. Opulent, well-textured and challenging."

Sur l’eucalyptus-mentholé-herbacé- évoluant sur du fruit compoté (pêche…) 👄 La bouche est rassurante-onctueuse-ronde, les esthers sont là mais pas omniprésent! Le boisé est doucement vernis, avec du fruits très agréable! L’alcool est parfaitement intégré et vient mettre un « kick » sur une olive délicieuse!"
