I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Tasted at Liquid Leuven ‘25 The nose immediately reveals it’s not New Grove, but Labourdonnais, alas. Not my preferred profile, but let’s take it for a spin anyway. Opens with crisp raspberries mixed with yoghurt and strings of acacia honey before releasing wafts of musty, dry spice and orange zest gratings. With time the glass gets more and more “mid-summer” with freshly mowed grass, flowers (tulips?) and petrichor. Exciting! In the mouth a detonation of spices with foremost licorice and more than a little too much green peper to the point it tastes almost like copper. It’s still quite fresh, but only honey and berries bring too little counterbalance and the mouthfeel just tips too much in the direction of dry spice and metals to be fully enjoyable. Ends short and very sweet much akin to a shot of dry curaçao.
Buds and Barrels 16/02/2025 A profile i'm not familiar with but very interesting. Whisky like finish and then evolved into candy?...
