Der zweite High Congeners kann schon wie der erste bei mir keine Begeisterung auslösen. Obwohl es schin der schiefe Rum aus Antigua ist, ist er immer noch so leicht, dass er bei mir vor allem langweile hervorruft. Das beste sind die Klebstoffnoten in der Nase und die wilde Grapefruitnote im Abgang. Dazwischen gibt es viel Kokosnuss, Karamell, Milchschokolade und doch eine Menge Frucht. Im Mund kommt eine recht strenge Ingwerschärfe dazu. Das ist absolut kein schlechter Rum, aber er bringt zu wenig mit um mich länger zu beschäftigen. Ich würde ihn gerne mal im Oid Cuban probieren, da hat er bestimmt Potential.
Die erste Abfüllung des High Congener gefiel mir gut. Beim zweiten Streich bin ich noch ein wenig unschlüssig. In der Nase Kokosnuss, Gewürze, Holz, aber leider auch leichte, stechende Noten wie im Chemielabor. Die werden zwar mit der Zeit schwächer, aber verschwinden leider nicht komplett. Am Gaumen zusätzlich noch Mango, Leder, Milchschokolade und eine angenehme Süße. Die Bewertungen, dass der Alkohol gut integriert ist, teile ich nicht. Ich empfinde den English Harbour selbst nach einer Stunde noch schneidend und brennend. Guter Rum für den Kurs. Wenn der Alkohol besser integriert wäre, dann wären über 8.0 drin gewesen. Werde ihn aber noch ausführlicher im Vergleich mit dem 1st Release testen.
Die neue Abfüllung der high congener series von english harbour wurde im Vergleich zur ersten Abfüllung schlicht noch länger im Fass gelagert und das tat Uhr gut. Alkohol ist klar besser eingebunden und das ganze wirkt runder. Ich bin nicht gänzlich Fan dieses Profils da die Ähnlichkeit zu Barbados/ Belize doch Recht groß scheint. Für den aufgerufenen Preis von 70€ macht man hier jedoch nichts falsch. Nix für Anfänger aber wär sich etwas mit Rum beschäftigt hat kann hier glücklich werden.
Intense on the nose with coconuts, vanilla, some tropical fruits and spices. Seems like the bourbon cask did quite some work here. Same profile on the palate. Some milk chocolate on top and a bit spikey. Just as the first edition, I like this one as well. Feels like a mix of Foursquare and Travellers at a very good price point.
