Le nez s'ouvre sur des esters très légers, totalement différent d'un Jamaïcain. Si les effluves sont puissants dès le début, ils sont volatiles et s'estompent dans le verre au fil du temps. On est tout de suite sur un fruité très agréable (fruit de la passion frais), accompagné par un boisé délicat qui va avec un parfum vanillé. Un second nez amène des épices douces (muscade, cannelle) avec un fond de caramel. Très séduisant. En bouche, des accents de jus de pruneaux/abricots ressortent rapidement, avec un boisé assez noble. Il y a surtout des arômes de mélasse, de caramel coulant. Il manque singulièrement de complexité comparé à d'autres rhums que j'ai pu goûter. Mais il compense par un côté gourmand assez sympa et réconfortant. La longueur en bouche est assez intéressante, relativement longue, mais manque de profondeur et de diversité (mélasse et boisé). Autre dégustation après plusieurs semaines d'ouverture et donc d'oxydation. C'est étonnant le changement comparé à la première dégustation. Le nez comme la bouche présentent maintenant des notes prononcées de noix de coco et de fruits exotiques, avec quelques épices douces comme la vanille. On se croirait sur un très bon Foursquare.
Finally, there is the scent of rum. The previous Fiji after the coffee liqueur all the elements of rum were overshadowed. A fragrant blend of fruit, spice, eucalyptus and esters. Tastewise, quite uninteresting. I don't know if it's sweetened or if it's taken over the sweetness from the finish, but it doesn't sit well with me.
Here is the next rum in the Planteray series. This time from Fiji..again very successful..on the one hand very nice and fruity. Both on the nose and on the palate. Definitely a recommendation from me.
