How does this rum taste?
Casa Barú Pure Single Rum leans on notes of toffee, milk chocolate, wood, and the faintest cocoa. RumX users often point to its 'viel Karamell und Toffee, holzgeprägt und Kakao' (@primus), with others noticing the rum as 'kräfiger Fasseinschlag' (@Tim) rather than fruit-driven. The mouthfeel is mild, and while 'verhältnismäßig trocken' (@crazyforgoodbooze), the lack of higher ABV leaves some wanting. As a mixer, it finds more love than when sipped neat.

Ups, die Früchte haben sich hier komplett versteckt. Schade, stattdessen sehr kräftiger Fasseinschlag mit allem was dazu gehört. Im Mund genau das gleiche. Das leere Glas verströmt tolle Vanillearomen!
First of all, many thanks to crazyforgoodbooze for providing the bottles free of charge. As for the rum itself, I have to say that it's not really a winner when tasted neat, although as a mixer it delivers above average in my opinion. Unfortunately reduced to 40%, with a little more oomph it might have been more.
Ja, wir sind beim Flagschiff Rum angekommen. Und ich erkenne hier tatsächlich einen Rum. Leicht gesüßt, typischer Lateinamerikanischer Art eines Rums. Nichts was man getrunken haben muss. In der Cola sicher nett.
5y old rum from Chiriqui, Panama. Relatively dry and definitely unsweetened. Overall, however, it is unfortunately a little boring and insignificant. A few more years of maturation and a few % more would certainly help here, but to be honest I don't see the point in buying such a young rum for around 50-60€. There's too much other good stuff for less money.
