How does this rum taste?
- Great for cocktails
- Affordable entry-level option
- Versatile use
The "Rhum Blanc" from Reunion's Charrette distillery is a traditional French-style rum distilled from molasses using a column still, with an ABV of 49%. It's renowned for its vegetal and fruity nose, accompanied by spicy notes. The palate offers a delicate balance of fruity and vegetal flavors with hints of sweetness and spice, though a pronounced alcoholic edge is evident. Frequently recognized for its versatility, it shines in cocktails, desserts, or infused arrangements but is deemed less suitable for sipping neat. Highly accessible, it appeals as an affordable entry-level rum for mixed drinks, yet connoisseurs might find its complexity lacking compared to stronger agricole varietals.

"Charrette from Reunion is a collaboration between the other distilleries in Reunion. It’s said to be the most bought rum in Reunion. It’s produced from sugar cane syrup which means that it’s not an Agricole, instead it’s a French styled Traditional rum. Overall an easy consumable not very demanding rum for someone used to Agricole’s Blanc 50-55%. Tested it in a TI Punch and it worked well, but I prefer an stronger Agricole Blanc. I’m quite sure it will fit quite good in any rum drink, especially better than any multi column produced white rum."

"The famous charrette! No need to present it. Perfect for cocktails, pastries or arranged rums. To drink pure, we won't lie, it's not really that good. Good value for money, though!"
