How does this rum taste?
- Very delicious
- Nice, smooth, subtle and complex
- Alcohol is integrated very well
Karukera Select Casks welcomes you with a grassy, vanilla and wood-forward profile, accented by layers of spice and a subtle fruitiness. Members pick up "grassy yet sweet on the nose" (@Stylo) and "pâte d’amande et une banane flambée" (@ElReyTristan), while others highlight chocolate and honey notes. It's often described as "subtle and complex" (@Stefan Persson), but the finish tends to be short and sometimes noticeably bitter, with a few wishing for a punchier ABV. Still, this agricole charms many with its balanced approach and gentle sweetness.

"It’s a nice, smooth, subtle and complex Agricole from nose via palate to the medium long finish. The nose have recognizable aromas of spices, vanilla, oak and fruits. At the palate and during the medium long finish the aromas comes back as flavors."
"#13 RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: vanilla, grass, sugarcane, young wood M: earty, grass, agricole, floral, dark chocolate F: oak, vanilla, black tea, soft Prediction: this one is tricky classic sugarcane in the nose, but an agricole feeling in the mouth…i would go with an rum from guatemala, or near! approx. 50%, it‘s a young rum max. 10years…. Quick a good rum, but lacks at the finish. Alcohol is intergrated very well. Nose: sugarcane, vanilla, grass, young wood Mouth: Dry, creamy, delicious, grass, agricole, earthy, dark chocolate, cherry, vanilla, young wood Finish: short, dry, soft, earthy, herbal, vegetal, black tea, young wood, vanilla"
"Frankly, I am amazed at this original bottling. This is how I think a standard bottling should be. Has this nice karukera chocolate and oak combination. Some bitterness and some ester. Compared to some indie bottlings that are considerably more expensive this is an absolute win!"
"Un karukera sympa, un nez de vanille, bois et épices. En bouche, on trouve un côté herbasé sucré, sur un fond de chêne. Dommage que la fin ne soit pas plus longue et complexe. Seconde dégustion : encore ce nez de vanille , bois….. par contre, cette fois en bouche, b y trouve un peu plus de goût de fût et un rhum ou l alcool y est moyennement intégré…./ c est bon malgré tout !"
