How does this rum taste?
This Planteray Trinidad (Kopke Porto Cask) from Maison Ferrand leans heavily into dark chocolate, red fruits, and a notable minty kick, rounding out into something quite gourmand and approachable. Several RumX folks highlight the "velmi rudá barva" (@Martin Švojgr) and enjoy a profile with Port cask influence: "c’est vraiment un TDL très gourmand et très rond, sur les fruits rouges" (@TheJackDrop). Very tasty round TDL with the port finish. Red berries, mint, coffee and dark chocolate with light port wine notes and a nice astringency. Well chosen finish with not too much dosage for variety. I really like it!
I was lucky enough to test it when I dropped in at the Rhum Attitude boutique in Brussels, and it's really a very gourmand and rounded TDL, with red fruits and chocolate in particular, I think. There are a few hints of mint, but perhaps a little too light for me, who's a big fan of menthol. In any case, for the price, it's very, very good.
