How does this rum taste?
The HERR Japan Tribute 1 is a rare offering from the Savanna distillery, produced in Reunion with only 761 bottles available. Distilled in 2007 from molasses and matured for 10 years, this rum boasts a potent 61.3% ABV. Users appreciate its enticing fruity nose with dominant mango and pineapple notes. On the palate, it features overripe sweetness, caramel, and vanilla with a touch of mango. While some enjoy its complexity, balancing fruit, caramel, spices, and a smoky undertone, others find it too whiskey-like. The finish is chocolatey and woodsy, making it a sought-after cask strength rum for enthusiasts.

This was my favourite Savanna and rum of the tasting. Nice complexity and lovely balance between the fruit, caramel and spices and you could also get some molasses. I really liked the light smoky feel and wood in this release. Chocolate comes at the end of the palate. Yummy 😊
