Hoy Como Ayer", a rare Cuban rum by Velier, distilled in 1956 and aged 68 years, enchants with its rich coffee, chocolate, and dried fruit aromas. Critics praise its well-balanced palate of coffee, chocolate, and leather hints, complemented by floral tones and sweetness. Despite its age, it remains vivid and complex. This exquisite rum is cherished for its seamless integration of alcohol and wood, making it a fantastic pairing with cigars. Limited to just 285 bottles, it stands out as a unique collector's item. #4898 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Light, sweet, wood, faint smoke, light floral, faint anise, light caramel, faint honey, light coffee, dried fruit. Palate Sweet, light, wood, light roasted, raisin, light floral, light licorice, light caramel, light coffee, faint tobacco. Finish Short to medium, light, sweet, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light caramel, light coffee, oily, faint nutts. I'm pretty sure this bottle will be released at a price very far from the quality. A sweet pretty well balanced rum but with very little soul. The wood and ABV on the other hand is perfectly integrated.
Tasted at Whisky Live Paris 2024 - quick tasting notes, you've been warned. I'd been waiting for this bottle like a child for a few days, it was ultra hard to find because it was well stashed away from Saturday, fortunately on Mat''s tips I was able to find the keel. Tasting in excellent company with Mike & the immense Alex Bobi, a magical moment! The chocolate, coffee and tobacco aspects made a strong impression on me, and my audio notes also lean towards spices and bitter orange. With a very long finish. Phew, it wasn't an old wood juice, I'm reassured. By the way, splendid design (even if my wife says it's ugly, she's got no taste!!). Also worth noting: a full-bodied rum, a far cry from my last 100% aguardiente ;)
An amazing dram. At the beginning a bit close, but it's obvious due to the age count Left breathing for a couple of hours it has shown all of his qualities. Despite the incredible age count, it is still vivid and fruity, almost with floral notes when comes to drink it.
Naprosto tmavá barva, takovou jsem snad vuděl naposled u S.B.S Beast... Vůně plná, spálený karamel, čokoláda, káva a jemná sladkost. V chuti kromě výše uvedené kávy, čokolády citím sušené datle, ořísky, kůži. Zavěr velmi silný, dlouhý, v chuti spálený karamel a káva. Urcitě chťově jeden nlz nejzajímavějších Kubánských rumů co jsem pil.
