How does this rum taste?
Saint James' 'Alex Webb Edition (Magnum)' picked up chatter for its vegetal, chocolate and citrus notes, with a pronounced agricole side and hints of tropical fruit. Users found the nose "really ok!" (@ilRummista) and appreciated its age, one noting, “12 ans pour moi c'est le bon âge” (@Double Barrel). That said, several agreed the palate feels subdued – "un po’ vuoto" (@ilRummista) and "verhalten und verwässert" (@Jarek) came up more than once.

By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Whisky Live Paris 2024 (trade fair evaluation, only overall rating and personal recommendation to buy): Can't excite me, just as little as the other three bottlings of the second magnum series. Still quite interesting on the nose, somehow restrained and watered down on the palate. It only gets the 8.0 because of the beautiful nose. I don't have to have a bottle of it.
WL 2024 For me, 12 years is the right age for Saint James. Before that, it hasn't yet reached its full potential, and after that, most of the time it declines into something too woody/spicy. Not really my favorite distillery, but I liked this one.
Saint James pas trop boisé mais un peu simple
